A.J. Stecklein

Attorney

Attorney A.J. Stecklein began his legal career as an assistant district attorney in the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s office, where he spent hundreds of hours in courtrooms. He graduated in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Kansas State University in Manhattan and in 1994 with a law degree from the University of Kansas in Lawrence.

A.J.’s early career experiences make him particularly comfortable before a judge or jury. In the last few years, his practice has turned to helping consumers who fall victim to dishonest businesses, including creditor and debt collector harassment. He is a member of the National Consumer Law Center, the nation’s leading advocate for consumer justice.

A.J. was president of the Wyandotte County Bar Association in 2004 and is a former member of the Housing Authority of Kansas City, Kansas. He presents continuing education seminars for other attorneys on consumer issues.

He was admitted to the Kansas Bar in 1994 and the Missouri Bar in 1995. He also is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri and the U.S. District Court for Kansas. He is a member of the Kansas Bar Association and the Kansas Association for Justice.

Michael Rapp

Attorney

Michael is a licensed attorney in Kansas and Missouri and has been admitted to multiple Federal Districts. He is a Co-Chair for the American Bar Association’s Tort, Insurance and Trial Practice Section (TIPS) committee of Cybersecurity and Data Privacy, A Past-President of the Solo/Small Firm Section of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, a member of the Wyandotte County Bar Association, as well as a State Chair for the National Association of Consumer Advocates. 

Since graduating from law school, Michael has focused his practice exclusively on Consumer Law with a concentration on Fair Credit Reporting (FCRA), with extensive experience with Fair Debt Collection Practices (FDCPA), and Telephone Consumer Protection (TCPA)

Michael regularly gives talks around the Kansas City area to community groups on the topics of Debt and Credit and blogs about FDCPA stories of interest, providing short, good-to-know tips for those interested in keeping their finger on the pulse of consumer protection law.

Michael Rapp graduated from UMKC School of Law, where he served as a Research Administrator for Friedman on Leases and was awarded the Sanford B. Ladd Award for his exceptional achievement in Real Estate Law. Prior to attending law school, Michael served his country, was decorated, and honorably discharged from the United States Air Force.

Matt Robertson

Attorney

Matt was born in Lubbock, Texas. Before entering the field of law, he served in the U.S. Army and was deployed in Iraq from 2010 – 2011 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. These experiences shaped Matt and inspired him to pursue a career in civic duty. He now continues to serve the community through his role at Stecklein & Rapp, where he has been employed for over two years. Matt originally joined the firm as a legal intern but recently passed the Kansas Bar Examination in September 2016. He is eager to continue building his practice as an attorney and further help clients throughout the Kansas City area.

Outside of the firm, Matt prioritizes spending time with his family above all else. He is an outdoorsman at heart, and he also enjoys reading for pleasure as much as possible.

Anne Lamoy

Paralegal

Anne is the Paralegal for Stecklein & Rapp, assisting with client needs in every aspect of the client relation process with the firm. She has assisted Stecklein with cases since 2003 and is the person to go to if in need of signing paperwork or more information on cases. She’ll give insight on what to expect for each case, updates, discovery requests, answer questions, and help with investigating the case.

She attended Kansas City, Kansas Community College with an Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies as well as the University of Missouri-Kansas City from 1980-1985 with an emphasis in English. Before working as a Paralegal, Anne was an investigative reporter for 20 years at the Kansas City Star. The Kansas City Press Club awarded her for investigative reporting about the Wyandotte County District Court and for deadline reporting about a man accused by the federal government of being a guard at a Nazi concentration camp.

A native of the Kansas City area, Anne grew up in Platte County, Missouri, and in her free time, she is a ceramicist who enjoys making jewelry and outdoor sculptures.
